Let the Egg Hunt begin...

For the last few years my parents have started hiding cash for the Easter egg hunt, instead of candy, so the lower half of the yard is for the two grandkids with candy, and the upper half is cash for all the teenagers and adults. Spencer and I usually just watch, but this year Spencer decided to participate, it was pretty funny watching everyone go crazy!

Easter Sunday

I really enjoyed this Easter, when I woke up Spencer had started the movie "To This End was I Born," if you have not seen it you can buy it at the Distribution Center for really cheap, it is well worth it. Then I had bought the kids a book about the Easter story, simplified for them. Brooklyn was really into it, and sat glued as I read, Gavin on the other hand, would not come listen " I don't yike it Mom!" This is a very common phrase in our house these days. If he wasn't so cute and animated when he said it, I might get mad, but you just can't...


Growing up in my family, every Easter my Mom would buy all the girls (all five of us!) a new Easter dress, I don't remember if my brother got anything, but he probably couldn't have cared less. So, I have started that tradition in my family and here are the pictures from Sunday.

A funny side note...

Last night when my sister brought the duck and chick, she wanted to hold the duck but they told her he was a little jumpy(meaning nervous), so now she calls the the duck the "hopping chick" it was so cute, b/c when she was looking at the blog this morning she said "aah, Mom look there's the hopping chick and the chick. I love kids, they say some funny stuff...

Brooklyn's Prayer

Tonight we were at my parents and my sister Ash and her boyfriend Zack decided for Easter they were going to buy a duckling and chick. Brooklyn of course was thrilled to hold the chick and asked all the way home if we could go buy a chick at night I said no the stores are closed. She kept asking to buy a duck and a chick, finally I told her she would have to ask her Dad(taking the pressure of me)anyway when she said her prayers tonight this is what she said: "bless we can go campin', bless we can get a duck and a chick, bless we can watch a movie, bless we can go potty..." I thought is was so cute I had to write it down. :)

If Ye Are Prepared, Thou Shall Not Fear...

This is the mantra I keep repeating in my mind. Anyone who knows me, will probably tell you how paranoid I am about what's to come, whether it be the "Big One" (earthquake) we've been past due for, or a Nuclear Attack (I'm not kidding), a so-called "dirty bomb," Avian Flu, or Economic collapse. All of these are possibilities and none of them I can prevent. However, I can be prepared. So, that is why since we moved I have been working on food storage, because any one of these things make it hard to survive without having something to sustain you, this includes being out of work. I've heard of so many families who, the husband lost his job and was unemployed for like six months, and they made it because they had a financial reserve, and food storage. Last year I decided I was going to work 2 days a month, and I started a Nurse Consulting job. I pretty much saved most the money I made for an emergency fund. I was so proud of myself, because I really, REALLY, love to shop. Anyhow, Spencer built me these awesome shelves last Saturday in our food storage room, and I canned 72 cans last night at my Mom's church, because they rented the canner from the cannery. So, I'm feeling better prepared. I challenge anyone out there to just set aside 10-15 dollars a week and buy a little extra groceries each week, you'll be surprised what you can accumulate. If you want to know how much your family needs for a one-year supply, google: food storage calculator and it will tell you. Also, my Mom just told me today that you don't have to volunteer at the cannery anymore, you can just go buy stuff, because they want everyone to just get their food storage!!

Dance, Dance Revolution!!

I'm starting to feel like somewhat of a video game junkie, even though we have never even owned them before. We only play three games, and I feel like they are all interactive. We play Guitar Hero, Sing Star, and Dance, Dance Revolution. We got them all at Christmas, but today was the first time I whipped out the dance game. Brooklyn loves it! She has managed to pass one song, but is still working on her timing, I had to take some pictures of her, because she was so into it, check out the tongue!!

Another "Brooklynism"

On Sunday, I got a call to check on a patient that was sick. Well, Brooklyn asked if she could come along so I said yes, and we went. When I got to the Beehive Homes facility, I asked if Brooklyn could stay with them while I assessed the sick patient, because I didn't want Brooklyn exposed to whatever she might have. When I was finished it was so cute because she was sitting at the table with a bunch of elderly ladies eating cheetos. The staff commented on how cute she is, and that she had been "performing" for them. After we got in the car she said "I like those ladies, I want to live at Beehive." Then she suddenly remembered she had forgotten her cheetos, I told her the ladies ate them and she was upset and said "You meed (yes meed instead of need) to go get them back from her." So I told her that instead we would go get a brownie at Grandma's house. She was satisfied with that so we went there. After we got to my Mom's house, Brooklyn said, "Can I have some brown-eyes now?" It took me awhile to figure out what she was saying but I finally figured it out Brownies!
