Happy 3rd Birthday Gavin!

This year for Gavin's birthday we decided to have a little pool party! Our wonderful neighbors have this amazing indoor pool they let us use, fully equipped with kitchen, dryer, bathrooms, changing rooms, spa, water slides and more!! Everyone had a blast including the birthday boy, who was a little unsure at first, but once we got him in we couldn't get him out!! He was spoiled rotten with gifts by friends and family.
Spencer has this leather tool pouch that he has had for years and Gavin thinks it is the greatest thing ever. We found a really cool one similar to Spencer's online. It also came with a miniature hammer that is real, a level, screwdriver and pencil. Gavin was in seventh heaven, he said to Spencer "Now I can help you build the detached garage!"

Timber.....

At the end of last year Spencer decided to move his office home, he no longer needed a separate office, especially with lots of space at our new house to park things, etc. With our garage slowly filling up with scaffolding, heaters, and lots of tools, Spencer decided it was time to build a detached garage that he could put everything, as well as an office upstairs. Unfortunately one of the very large pine trees in our back yard was going to be in the way. So, our brother-in-law BJ is a tree cutter and was nice enough to cut it down (safely) for us. Spencer originally wanted to do it himself, and I said NO WAY! Leave that to professionals! So literally within a matter of minutes it was down. I got kind of emotional cutting down such a big tree that had probably been there for twenty years, but at least we still have three more back there to look at.

Since when did my not-so-baby boy grow up and start having intelligible conversations with his older sister. I think I'm just having a hard time, since he'll be turning three at the end of this month. The past three years have gone by so fast and Gavin talks so grown-up I can't believe it...but you can't stop time, I just need to enjoy the journey.

St. Patrick's Day Dinner

Well I know St. Patrick's Day was a few weeks ago, but I've been creating my blog book from last year and it has been so much fun to go through all the things we did and stories, SO, I don't want to leave anything out! This is the first year I have done anything on St. Patrick's day...I know sad...but anyway it was a lot of fun. We had spinach fettuccine with creamy pesto from Pizza factory (thanks Whitney!). Green salad, pickles ( I know random, but my kids love them!), steamed broccoli, and for dessert GREEN banana cream pie.

Gavin's Birthday Wishlist

Gavin's birthday is coming up at the end of this month, so today I asked him what some of the things he wanted were, here is his list:
-drill ( he showed us one at Sears and said "it's only firty(30) bucks Mom")
-tape measure
-hammer
-handcuffs
-stapler
-bucket of treats(not just a treat, a bucket of treats :)
-tool belt
-fan with a light on it
-light saber
-wood to build a house
-tractor (big one like daddy's)
-Jazz game (we were watching them play at the time)
Quite the list for an almost three-year-old! He already has lots of tools, however, they usually get lost fairly quickly. I was hoping for him to say he wanted some toys like a basketball hoop, soccer ball, truck, etc., but that just wouldn't be Gavin!

Lobster "tales"

So this last weekend, Spencer went with some buddies out to Cali to do some scuba diving and catch some lobsters. When he came home he brought home a bag of lobsters tails (much to my relief, I didn't want to see any heads, tentacles, ughh!). He actually only caught one, but his friend was nice of enough to give him a bunch more. Spencer said that catching them is actually kind of hard. First of all you do it at night, when it is dark. So you are swimming in the dark ocean! That doesn't even sound fun at all. Then once you find a lobster you put your spotlight in its face, then pin down the tail, while avoiding getting stabbed by it sharp tentacles. Then pick it up and put it in your bag alive! He said he almost drowned once he caught his first one, because he couldn't get it in his bag! Anyway, now I have a big bag of lobster in my freezer and need to learn how to cook it, any suggestions are welcome :)
