Curiosity of a 4-year-old...and some wise advice

So, one of the things I wasn't looking forward to explaining to Gavin was the whole breastfeeding thing. Not because I am embarrassed or think he shouldn't know, but mostly because his little mind comes up with the craziest ideas and misinterpretations and then he tells the whole world! So I wasn't quite sure how to really explain it. I made a nursing cover specifically for home so I wouldn't have to lock myself in my room every couple hours, here is how the first interaction went:
Gavin: "what is the baby doing?"
Me: "eating"
Gavin: "what is he eating?"
Me: "milk"
Gavin: "where is he getting it from?"
Me: "my body"(notice my simple answers hoping I can suffice him and he'll let it go for a while)
Gavin "Is there a STRAW under there??!!"

I now have begun saying things my mother said to me and now Gavin is saying things I say to him.

My iPod wasn't working very well (no less as a result of Gavin spilling water on it) and so I wasn't going to let Gavin play any games on it. I told him he couldn't play one of the games on it because it was broken, to that he said to me (in a very matter of fact tone) "Mom, you better start takin' better care of your stuff.." And to him I wanted to say, and that involves not letting you touch it!

This morning I was comatose in bed due to sleep deprivation and Gavin wanted some breakfast, I kept telling him in a few more minutes, finally he came and got in bed with me and I told him I was really tired, he said "Mom, you need to go to bed earlier!"

Brooklyn is loosing teeth left and right and a few weeks ago her front top tooth was hanging by a thread and looked like such a snaggle tooth I made Spencer pull it before church, because it was really gross and making me gag, and all I needed was to have her pull it during church :S. So after much effort Spencer was finally able to get it and without any tears! I don't remember my Dad pulling my tooth out being that painless, that is probably because it wasn't even that loose when he yanked it out!

Superstar!!

Brooklyn has been anxiously awaiting her week to be the Superstar, finally it arrived and she was thrilled. In Miss Spadafora's class she gives each child a week during the year and they are the superstar. Each day is something special for them to do, like read a story they have written to the class, have a letter written by their parent read to the class, bring a special show and tell, they get to be line leader and are treated like royalty one of the days. They get to bring a poster about themselves and many other things that frankly I can't remember because it was a few weeks ago and I am barely getting around to writing about it! The day that Miss S. read my letter I wrote, (which Brooklyn made me type 5 minutes before it was time for school, because apparently hand written ones aren't cool!) Brooklyn came home and told me that it was "really cute mom!" That melted my heart I was glad she liked it. Brooklyn you are definitely a superstar and we are glad you are in our family. :)

Most of you know that I had complications with my last two deliveries, and as a result I had a cesarean this time. On Wednesday March 31st, at 5 a.m. I arrived at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center's labor and delivery, after checking in they took me to a room to get my epidural and IV started etc. As soon as the anesthesiologist finished my epidural he asked me if I had any buzzing in my ears or a metallic taste in my mouth. I said no, but my palms were kind of itchy, he kind of brushed it off. Then my mouth started itching I told him this and he said it shouldn't be and asked if I had ever had reactions to my epidural before, I said no. Next my stomach started itching, then my legs then my chest. By this time he had left the room and so I told my nurse ( who I later figured out was in my Nursing class) that I needed some benadryl or something. She left the room and suddenly I felt horrible! I can't even explain it, kinda of like it is hard to breathe and you feel like your going to pass out. The blood pressure machine started to beep so I asked Spencer what it said my blood pressure was, well my diastolic pressure had dropped to 33! Which is pretty low, next thing I know the anesthesiologist is there giving me epinephrine twice to get my pressure up and like three doses of benadryl to try and help my now full body rash. I felt soooo much better though after he gave me the epinephrine it is amazing modern medicine. However, I was quite sleepy after that for the delivery, which probably was to my advantage, because I wasn't nervous at all after that!
They wheeled me into the operating room at 6:56 a.m. and at 7:16 a.m. Noah Rex Reeve was born, and a little peanut at that, 6 lbs 15 oz, what?!? This is not my child, except he looks exactly like Gavin and a little like Brooklyn. He measured two weeks big from 24 weeks on I couldn't believe he was so little. My others being between 8 & 9 pounds. We'll take him though, he sure is adorable.
