How much fun can you have for $3?

(BTW this picture was not staged...isn't it cute :)

LOTS! This past weekend we went to Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point. They were having a special through K$Bull 93. Admission which is normally around ten dollars was $.93! So with tax it was three dollars! Gavin was free. Our kids had so much fun, Spencer and I were talking and said it would have been worth even paying thirty dollars, since 0ur kids loved it so much.

Here are the kids on the HUGE rocking chair...
Brooklyn was THRILLED to dress up like a princess and sit with the Pumpkin Princess in here pumpkin stagecoach.

Gavin really warmed up once we found TRACTORS that could scoop and dump dirt, a boys heaven for sure!
There were boxes full of CORN to play in...

Big SLIDES to slide down...

A MAZE to walk through...

SADDLES and ROPES...

It was a lot of fun, best three dollars I'VE ever spent!!

My Crazy Sleeper

It seems like every night without fail, after Brooklyn has gotten ready for bed ( in normal attire), she always puts on something over it. Here she is pictured with her tinkerbell swim top on, and a flower(she wears one in her hair every night!). Other mornings I have found her with her tinkerbell dress-up on, which is really poofy (is that a word?did I spell it right?oh well) and itchy because of all the tulle. The other thing is she is always carrying a basket, bag, box or something full of junk! It drives me crazy, she is such a packrat and want to keep everything! None of which has any importance whatsoever, oh well whatever makes them happy right?

Where do they come up...

with these things? Gavin, my two-year old is following Brooklyn around the house saying "Booklyn, will you marry me?" Apparently she is ignoring him, because he's repeating this statement over and over again like a broken record. When she won't answer him he comes to me and say "Mommy, will you marry me?" I ask him what being married means (not actually thinking he will answer) and he says, "I wear your ring and you wear Daddy's ring, okay?" I thought it was so funny that one, he knew the word "marry" and two, associated rings with it. Kids do say the darndest things!

Just like Dad...

Gavin loves everything Daddy, especially his tools, his latest obsession is one of Spencer's bike tools, Gavin calls it the "bike ride tool" and lighters(yes this is right). I think the lighter thing evolved from camping and he just loves to carry them around, he doesn't know how to use it luckily...yet that is, yikes! He walked over to me the other day dressed in this attire saying "look Mom, I like dad" Spencer's hat, shoes, and ALL of our keys that he attached to a ring, which he attached to his shorts. He actually will make us change his clothes if he does not have at a minimum a belt loop, in case he needs to clip something on (ie. tape measures, keys, etc) and a pocket to stuff full of all kinds of stuff. I opened the washer last night and hanging out was a dog leash (to his build-a-bear), a lighter, and the "bike ride tool." I guess I need to start checking his pockets before I wash his pants.

Where were you on 9/11?

I think that most of us probably remember where we were when we heard about the planes crashing in NYC. For me, it was the first time in my life that I didn't feel safe in our country. I felt so vulnerable all of the sudden, even though the events were occuring thousands of miles away. I'll never forget my experience.
I was actually at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center doing my Nursing clinicals. I was in Pre-op with a patient who was getting a total knee replacement. I was to admit her, go into surgery with her, take her to post-op, and then up to the Orthopedic floor. This was an ALL day thing. After my patient was ready to go surgery, I was just walking up and down the halls waiting for them to call us. Suddenly a woman in one of the pre-op rooms starts yelling, "Oh no! oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" I walked over and an orderly comes out of her room, they were watching a television. He told me a plane had just crashed into the Sears tower (not exactly right, but anyway...) At this point it was very sad, but more of a fluke thing, nothing too suspicious. My patient was called and as we were wheeling through the OR doors someone yells "Another plane just crashed into the twin towers!" Now I'm a little concerned but can't really find out much more because I'm going into surgery. As the surgery progresses all of us in the OR are buzzing about what is going on. Unfortunately they banned tv's from the OR so we couldn't get any updates. Then, a resident Anesthesiologist tells us he has internet on his pager (or something like that?) So he starts getting us updates. The second he told us that a plane had crashed into the Pentagon I knew things weren't good. All I wanted to do was call Spencer or my Mom. Just talk to a family member. I felt so helpless sitting in that room not knowing why this was happening or how far it would go. The surgery was pretty long about 4 hours, by the time I had taken my patient to the floor it was four'o'clock. We sat there and watched the television play the crashes over and over. It was really terrifying and surreal. I guess I felt like as Americans we were untouchable. We fought battles all the time in the world, but not here, not on our soil. It was really scary, especially realizing that these people have no respect for human life. They feel that taking there lives to kill their enemy is an honorable death. How can you fight that kind of mentality? I just want to remember all the families that lost loved ones that day, and who still are losing loved ones. I am so grateful for our soldiers and their bravery I can't even imagine doing what they do. We're so lucky to have them. Please remember them in your prayers.

Fairview Fun

Brooklyn & Morgan
This weekend we took a camping trip with the Heelis Family. We went up to Fairview. For those who don't know where that is, you go up Spanish Fork canyon. Fairview is so beautiful, it is probably one of my new favorite places to camp. The mountains are covered in pine and aspen trees, there are TONS of little roads everywhere to ride your four-wheeler.The last two years we have camped by Gooseberry Reservoir which has a lot a fish. Just ask Matt Heelis, he is the master fisherman, and at one time had four poles going, he made it fun for the kids because he was able to help each of them catch a fish.
Saturday was a beautiful day, so we decided to take the four-wheelers out. We had all four of us on ours and the Heelis' had five on theirs! We were gone for two hours I couldn't believe it. It was a lot of fun though. We saw our friends the Smarts up there too, they were taking a ride with their cute little family, it was fun to see more friends up there.
Gavin has an obsession with our trailer keys. This key ring also has the four-wheeler key on it. He would start to bawl if he didn't have them in his possession at all times. So, when we went on the ride he had to have one hand on the key, and the other on the handlebar, so he could steer of course.
Brooklyn got her ears pierced for her fifth birthday and was thrilled, that the "momma cow has earrings too!" We saw lots of cattle on our ride.
Our camp was super dusty and the kids loved every minute of it. They looked like racoons most of the time from dirt getting all over their faces. Gavin had perma-dirt on his feet, because the shoes I packed him were a little snug, and he kept telling me his shoes were "too fat." Actually it was his feet that were too fat! So he barefooted it most the time, he has some pretty tough feet, thats for sure.

It was so relaxing and it was the first time we went camping when I was not really worried about our kids leaving camp or getting into too much trouble. Thanks Heelis family we had a great time!
