Jazz Game!!!

This month our friends the Heelis' invited us to go to a Jazz game. They had great seats 13th row, so we were pretty excited, even though Brei and I mostly just chatted the whole time. It was also pretty cool, because President Uchtdorf was sitting behind us, it was a fun date and the Jazz won, even better!!

Itty Bitty Ball

Earlier this month I signed Gavin up for Itty Bitty Ball at the PG rec. Gavin is really active and I asked him if he wanted to do it and he said yes..never believe what a two year old says. It was a good thing it was only four classes, because he was really difficult!!! He didn't want to do the warm-ups or singing at the first, which is something he would usually love to do. Then he kept running off, wanting to play on the bleachers. The worst part is he acted so clingy and kept asking me to hold him..aaahh! Anyway, we made it through the four classes and I'm glad it is over!

One of the few times he focused long enough to do one of the drills they were teaching him.

Body Worlds Exhibit

Last month Spencer and I were able to go up to the Leonardo and see the Body Worlds exhibit. I am really into learning as much as I can about the human body. Health science is something that I've always enjoyed. That is probably why I became a nurse, but this exhibit is like nothing else I've seen. I have been in anatomy labs and I wish we could have studied these bodies instead of cadavers. They were so amazing. I had never heard of this plasticizing process before, but it is incredible. It preserved entire capillary structures and was really neat to see. They didn't allow us to take any pictures inside the exhibit, so I got these off the web.

Chuck E. Cheese

The other night we took the kids out, they wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese so that is where we went. It is great because our kids are getting big enough that we just watch them play games and have a ball, without having to do much. The biggest drama is always at the end when we cash in our tickets (the very few we have). My kids always want the prize that is like 500 tickets, to which I reply, "sorry you have to pick out of the 10 ticket box." Gavin is in a phase were he wants the same exact thing as Brooklyn. Well, she wanted this blue lizard that was 20 tickets, of course Gavin wanted the same. We only had 37 tickets, so I asked the teenager behind the counter if I could pay the difference, I just needed another lizard to keep the peace. He looks at me and says you have enough already. I looked at him confused (cause I'm an idiot) and repeat "I only have 37, and it costs 40. To which he replies Yes, you have enough (wink,wink). I felt like such a dork, he was probably like that lady is so slooow!

Am I in trouble now...?

The shock factor you might get when your child does something terrible really is gone from me these days. Nothing Gavin does is really a surprise to me anymore.
Some of the shenanigans Gavin has been up to:
-Got into my nail polish, the hot pink of course, and painted his nails, skin, my bathroom counter top and rug.
-Likes to totally strip his bed of comforter, blankets, and sheets, then go into Brooklyn's room and do the same.

Getting into the knives and slicing open his finger, this is hours later after the blood finally stopped.
And last but not least, Gavin took Spencer's lamp and decided to put in on the spare bed, well the bulb was very hot and fell onto the bed causing a fire! Yes..fire, luckily Spencer was in the room, because it ignited pretty quickly and mattresses are really flammable!
I really love my Gavin, but somedays he literally almost burns down our house!!!

Snow Canyon

A couple weekends ago, I had a sudden urge to go somewhere warm. Spencer and I are not spontaneous at all, but on a Wednesday night we decided we'd leave Friday morning for sunny St. George. We enjoyed lots of swimming and one of the days we went to Snow Canyon. Brooklyn was thrilled because there wasn't any snow in St. George. We hiked for a while, but Gavin gets tired quickly unlike his energetic sister. I remember when Brooklyn was 2 1/2 and we went to Goblin Valley. We hiked the narrows, and it was around 4 miles, she ran the whole way there and back, and still didn't take an afternoon nap. Gavin, however, walks 5 yards and asks Spencer to pick him up and carry him. It wasn't the warmest maybe low 50's but compared to Utah Valley it was heaven!

Pros & Cons of a Potty-trained BOY

Since Gavin has been potty-trained I've come to the conclusion that boys being potty-trained are a lot different than girls, for a few reasons.

Pros:
NO MORE DIAPERS!!!
Diaper bag...gone!
Wipes...mostly gone!
Boys can pee in lots of places, easily,in an emergency of course.
Public restrooms a breeze, they don't have to touch a thing! Just point and shoot!
Did I mention no more buying diapers?

Cons:
Pee on the wall next to the toilet...
Pee on the baseboards next to the toilet...
Peeing all over the roll of toilet paper...
You get the idea!

Worst of all pee seeping underneath my toilet where I can't reach! AAAhhhh!

Tea Party for Two!

Both of my kids have the weirdest faces in this pic, but it's still cute :)

The latest and greatest with Brooklyn is her tea sets she got from my Mom for Christmas. She is constantly setting up a tea party anywhere and everywhere all through the house. She has gotten Gavin really into it as well. It has been really cute to see all of their pretend play lately. It is funny how when Gavin was born they seemed so far apart in age (2 yrs. 7mo.) and now it seems like they aren't that far apart at all. Gavin only weighs 5 lbs less, and he had a pretty good growth spurt, so even their height difference is becoming smaller. I joke that Gavin will be heavy enough to get out of his booster seat before Brooklyn, and it is probably true! Even though there is still fighting and teasing, there is a lot friendship as well. My baby is so big now, turning 3 next month and it makes me sad how fast time flies by.
