Flashback to April 2007

I was looking through pictures of our family trips and found the ones from Goblin Valley last spring break, and I cannot believe how much my kids have changed! And how much hair Gavin didn't have! He has had three haircuts since last fall, and Brooklyn has had three haircuts...in four and a half years! I thought these were fun pics so I'm posting them!

My New Bike

I finally got my new bike! I picked it up Wednesday from Revolution. It is a Cannondale, Feminine Synapse 3. Full carbon fiber, so nicer than my last bike that was aluminum and carbon. I am really excited to get out and ride it. This pic is off the Cannondale website, and my frame is exactly like this, but my handlebars are wrapped in silver tape and I have different tires, but pretty much looks the same, can't wait for some better weather, today it has been really windy and even a few snow flurries :(

Barbie Mariposa!

In January, Brooklyn started having a few issues at Preschool, Dance, Primary... anyway she was always getting upset and having a hard time, so I decided I needed to do something. I decided to try what my friend Laurel likes to call "The Incentive Program." Basically bribery but the Incentive program sounds so much better :) I told her that for every time I picked her up and she was happy and not upset I would let her put a sticker on her chart, and after the whole chart was filled we could go get her a Barbie Mariposa, which is something she had really wanted. At first she wasn't getting very many stickers, but the last month, she got a sticker every time! She rarely gets upset in class, and her teacher told me she is doing awesome! I can't believe it really worked. It took her four months, but I'm glad I hung in there until she got all her stickers, because I few times I wanted to just buy her the Barbie. It was fun taking her tonight with Spencer and seeing how excited she was. She finally got her Barbie Mariposa, Yay!!

Camping Out West

This past weekend we did our 3rd annual camp trip with the Larson's. We go over spring break, and in the past we have gone to Goblin Valley, which all our kids LOVE! But, we weren't able to leave as early and had to be home early, so we decided to go out West. It was a nice camp site, with grass and trees. The weather would have been perfect if it had it not been so windy. There were these huge gusts that would kick up all the dirt and knock stuff over, it wasn't the best, but it was better than being at home!We spent lots of time on the four-wheeler, my Mom and Dad and sisters came up Friday and brought their wheelers, it was a lot of fun. Spencer and I were also able to go mountain biking which was fun too.
Brooklyn had so much fun "campin" as she calls it. She loved playing in the dirt and going on wheeler rides. She especially liked watching a movie at the end of a hard days play in the trailer.


Gavin had as much fun as Brooklyn and him along with three other two-year old took turns fighting over a coveted bike, that one of the families brought, "my turn" was repeated several times...
Overall it was a fun-filled family weekend, and we hope to be enjoying many more of these in the coming months!

Gavin's Favorite Things

I don't know why, but is seems that boys are born with all kinds of things "boy" inside of them and they don't even have to be taught about them. For example, Gavin knows that anything stick-like you hit and bang things with, that guns (pretend ones, like his Nerf dart gun-which is pretty sweet) make shooting sounds, and that tools like hammers and screw guns fix stuff. Now the tools he probably learned from Spencer, but other things I just don't know. Anyway, for some time now Gavin has had on OBSESSION with tape measures, he owns several. At any given time you can probably see him with it clipped to his jean pocket. He constantly measures EVERYTHING, and he'll even tell you the measurements like "fifty-nine, two-teen (?), " etc. In fact he is so dramatic about it, that the other day we were having an emergency drill at our neighbors house, and he was in his jammies, well jammies don't have pockets for tape measures? He had a total meltdown because he wanted to clip it to his pocket. Spencer had to actually leave and take him home to put on jeans. Lately, Gavin likes to take apart my vacuum, and he carries the cylinder part around. He takes all the attachments off the top, so that he can attach some of his own, (ie. tape measure, "shoestick" (lipstick).

A Little Mischief

A few weeks ago my Aunt Patrice asked me to color her hair, so I agreed and went to her apartment in American Fork, with my two kids. I think it turned out well don't you think?

Unfortunately while I was doing her hair Gavin was getting into a little mischief...It has been too quiet for too long...He decided to try out the mascara, he did actually get SOME of it on his lashes!

Gavin & Baby Hunter

This weekend Spencer's sister Stephanie came up, so we had a little get together on Saturday night. We had a little pizza party before Priesthood session, then the girls hung out while the guys left to their meeting. It was fun, and I finally got to see Hunter, Stephanie's son. He's a cutie and a really happy baby, we got some cute smiles out of him, and I think the picture of Gavin kissing him is so cute. Gavin was very interested in all the baby "stuff." He kept taking the binkie, and bottle, then he wanted to get in the car seat. It was really cute listening him call him "baby Hunta." As they were leaving I discovered Gavin had pocketed the binkie, and had to run outside and catch them before they drove away! It was good to see the new addition to our fam, Baby Hunter.

Happy #2 Gavin!

Gavin's birthday was Sunday, and he turned 2! He is such a fun kid and such a boy! He got a Nerf dart gun for his birthday, which he was thrilled about, as well as a bike, and a bubble mower. All of which he was very excited for. He had fun teasing me as he kept blowing out the candles as I lit them, and laughing his head off. Finally I had everyone start singing and I lit the candle at the end of the song. Then he thought the "two" candle was candy and he took a big bite of wax! He had fun and we wanna thank all the family that came to celebrate with us it was a fun night!

A Bad Day for Cyclists

Well, as it warms up after the long winter, the cyclists out there get excited to get out on the road and experience more than just a ride on the "trainer" down in the basement. Saturday was that day for my friends and I. It was supposed to be snowing and cold, but actually the sun was shining and it was a pretty nice day. So, I and my friends Melissa and Jen, headed out to Utah Lake to do a quick loop. As we approached the Lindon dump, there were several trucks and trailers there. As we arrived at the intersection a trailer was blocking the intersection. It was a 2-way and we had the right of way, but we slowed way down because of all the traffic. As Melissa entered the intersection suddenly a truck pulled right out in front of us and broadsided Melissa, I saw her fly and freaked out, but before I could do anything, I slammed the side of the truck and flipped over the corner or the truck landing on the asphalt on the road. At first I could not breathe, because it knocked the wind out of me, so being a nurse I started to over-analyze everything that I was feeling. But, once I got up and realized I could walk I felt better. I rushed over to Melissa, who was kneeling on the road saying she was fine. However, the more time that passed the more pain she was in. We ended up calling an ambulance to check her out further. In the end I took her to the clinic for x-rays and she has a fractured humerus. I and Jen ended up with some good bruises. I have a large one about the size of a cantaloupe bruise on the top on my thigh and one about the size of a baseball on the back of my calf. My hand is bruised and I had a pretty stiff neck the next day. I was so glad we always wear helmets, because my helmet was cracked, and had I not been wearing one well...who knows. I just couldn't believe though, that all three of us got hit! It was a bummer day, all our bikes were totaled.It is kinda of hard to tell but my tire is totally bent to the left. :(
