iPod or Eyepod?

One of the favorite things I love about my kids are their eyes. They are dark brown and big, and they both have long dark eyelashes. Funny thing about Brooklyn lately, is she calls her eyes "eyepods." I don't know if she got it from iPod, and to her it makes sense that it has to do with eyes or not, but either way it has been funny when she asks me about my "eyepods." I actually said, "do you mean eyeballs?" and she said "no mom! they're eyepods!"Today she attempted mascara and you can see it on her face by her nose...Funny girl!

The Longest Ride...EVER!

Well, this past weekend, Spencer and I went down with our friends the Larsons to St. George,to do the Zion's Early Spring Century. This event is a road biking event, and we signed up to do the century which is 100 miles. Since it is still winter the only training we have had since our last century in October, was on our bike trainers. This is basically putting your bike on this machine in your house and riding. I felt like I put in a good effort riding three days a week for the past 6 or 7 weeks, but I guess not enough. Last year, I did three centuries with my friend Melissa Larson, and by the last one I felt pretty good about my capabilities. I wasn't so sure though after the winter break. Well it was pretty brutal, my hands and feet were frozen the majority of the time, which just added to the misery. When I finally made it to lunch, I was dead! The worst part about it was that I was only halfway finished! After lunch Melissa and I headed off before our husbands, because we were actually supposed to go 2 1/2 more miles up the road and then turn around, but we opted out of that! I felt pretty energized and it was mostly downhill from lunch for awhile, but eventually I wore down again. A little background info, Melissa and I both have this same problem. Sometimes our leg dislocates out of our hip, mine is the right leg, hers is the left. Her doctor said it is due to childbirth, causing your hip joints to become so limber that they easily slide out of place. Anyway, Melissa had been having some hip pain on the ride, and started putting pressure on her knee to compensate. So, around mile eighty she was in so much pain she couldn't push any longer, and so I being so grateful and ecstatic to have someone to quite with, I did just that I QUIT! No remorse, regret, disappointment, no, just RELIEF! We had our husbands book it home, while we climbed our final hill to the last rest stop and then laid on the grass until they could come pick us up. Our total mileage was 86 miles, and it was the longest 86 miles I have ever ridden. I am glad it is over!

Our Little Mr. Mom

Our little Gavin has always been anything and everything BOY! He loves trucks, and gets super excited whenever we take Spencer's truck. He loves four-wheelers and motorcycles, bikes, and trains. He loves to play ball, and shoot guns (pretend ones of course!). He is also really good at making sound effects(as we speak he is making "vroom-vroom" sounds with my keys =). He is so animated in his expressions and after making a sound effect he will start laughing his head off

at himself! I've never figured out where he gets all of this from, especially since his only other sibling is a girl, and is everything princesses, make-up, etc. I just decided he was born that way. Well, yesterday he really wanted Brooklyn's Ariel doll. He told me "baby poopy" I said okay are you going to change her. He said: "I change biper" Then he preceded to run to the bathroom and get wipes. When he came back I asked him where the diaper was and he said "I get 'poo-up' (pull-up) I said ok. Then he started wiping the baby doll up, he tried to put a diaper on her but it was way to complicated for him. So then he said "baby go potty" and ran to the bathroom, lifted up the seat and put the baby over it (it was hilarious!), next he "brush hair" and I gave him one of the brushes, but he wanted a particular one, anyway, it was about a 30 minute ordeal and I loved every minute of it. He was our little Mr. Mom for the day.

Spencer always the ambitious daddy, trying to assemble a dinosaur skeleton, needless to say, it was a little harder than it looked and we decided to forgo this activity to go look at T-Rex!!
Our kids always have so much fun when we go to the Dino Museum, but this time I realized how much easier it was, now that our kids are older, we didn't have to do any chasing or entertaining in the stroller, heck we didn't even HAVE a stroller (although at one point I told Spencer I wished we would have brought one just to carry our stuff around in!). With this said it makes it harder to bring up the "B" word, but sooner or later it will have to be a reality, because that is how the baby years are for a mother. Starting over with another baby every few years =)

My Sweet Valentine

I know it is the day after Valentines, but I had so much fun with my husband on Valentines day and he was so sweet, that I want to thank him today. I love this picture of him with our kids, because it reminds me how much he loves them, and that he is such a GREAT dad. He really does so much for me, and at the end of the day when I'm so tired (and so is he) he'll still step up and bathe them, or put them to bed. He is so great and I love having him as my husband. We have so much fun together even after eight years, I hope it is like this for many more years. I love you Spence!

Ams Purse

Ok, so my purse is usually a complete disaster, but I cleaned it out last week so its actually not too bad. Here's what I've got:
-A wallet so stuffed it won't close full of cash, receipts, cards, etc.
-My ginormous (yes, this is actually a word, it was added to the dictionary this year!) chapstick, that my sis gave me at Christmas.
-Checkbook, that has no checks or deposit slips!
-Eyedrops I can't live without, b/c I have contacts that drive me crazy!
-A CD with pics of the fam
-Wipes, can't live without em'!
-Lots of pens, cause I always lose them.
-Gum
-Trix, always prepared, for those emergencies, if you have toddler you know what I mean.
-Ok, Buttercream frosting, and sprinkles, I don't usually carry frosting around but I brought it to Mom's to frost cupcakes.
-The Kite Runner, book club book, as a mother you have to take advantage of any spare moments!
-CELL PHONE...no explanation necessary.
-My pocket calendar, it is my brain...literally! If I don't look at it to see what I have to do, I don't do it, ie. I have now forgotten to take Brooklyn to Preschool twice!

Sisters by Chance...Friends by Choice.

After seeing my friends cute post about her sisters I thought I'd add a little about mine. I am the oldest of six, five of which are girls. All of our names start with "A" including my Moms. This picture shows L to R: Alexis(Lexi) 16, Alicia (Leesh) 21, Amberlie (me) 26, Alyssa (Lissy) 12, Ashlyn (Ashy) 18. I'll have to admit that I was never super close to me sisters since I moved out when I was eighteen, and my next oldest sis was only thirteen when I moved, but since they have started to grow up we have now become more close, and it is fun to have sisters. Although having all the drama of five girls I'm sure was rough I'm still glad for all of us! I just hope as we all get older and go our separate ways we will always be great friends!

Guitar Hero

Spencer & I have never been the video game type people, but this past Christmas we decided to dive in and we got a PS2. We got Guitar Hero, Sing Star, and Dance,Dance Revolution. Anyway, they are pretty fun, and even though our kids are young (4 1/2 & Almost 2) They love it! Brooklyn and Gavin are both constantly asking to play. However, I don't really like to play with Brooklyn because she gets upset when she doesn't win, which is always unless she plays against Gavin. But, nonetheless I still try to humor her. She is pretty good at Sing Star, she has gotten as high as "Rising Star" and that is only three from the top. She has a pretty good ear (she gets that from me, not Spence, sorry honey =). Anyway, I found these pics and I thought they were cute. Brooklyn always says "Mom, I'm a rockstar!" when she's playing, and I think in this pic she totally looks like an 80's rockstar!
